Keynote Speaker confirmed!

Rabab El Mahdi is the second confirmed Keynote Speaker for the international colloquium "And the People, where are they? The collective subject in times of revolution"!

Rabab is an Associate Professor of Political Science at the American University in Cairo (AUC) and earned her PhD from McGill University in Montreal, where she researched the impact of neoliberal economic reconstruction on state-civil society relations in Egypt and Bolivia.


Her area of specialization is comparative political economy and development, with a focus on Latin America and the Middle East, and her research interests include state-civil society relations, social movements, resistance, and the political economy of social policies.


Her lecture will focus on the potential commonalities and shared resistance between the Portuguese experience and the Arab uprisings.
